A delightful and easy recipe for pan-seared white fish with a zesty lemon butter sauce, perfect for family dinners or a cozy meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 fillets White Fish (tilapia, halibut, cod, or sea bass)
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Canola Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 0.5 medium Lemon (juiced)
  • 1 tablespoon Nonpareils Capers (or olives)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Mixed Herbs (chives, tarragon, parsley)
  • 2 wedges Lemon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the white fish fillets dry with paper towels and season generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the canola oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Place the seasoned fish skin-side down in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Flip the fillets and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Remove the fish from the skillet and let it rest on a warm plate.
  6. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add unsalted butter, lemon juice, and capers. Stir occasionally until the butter melts.
  7. Mix in the chopped herbs and let it simmer for a minute to combine the flavors.
  8. Serve the fish on plates, drizzling the lemon butter sauce on top and garnishing with lemon wedges.

Notes

For the best sear, do not overcrowd the pan. Use fresh herbs for better flavor.
