  • 1 small head of cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the cabbage by slicing it into 1/2 inch thick rounds and brushing both sides with olive oil.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), chopped onions, and minced garlic, and season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the egg (if using).
  4. Shape patties from the meat mixture to fit each cabbage round and press them onto the slices.
  5. Arrange the cabbage burgers on a lined baking sheet and bake for approximately 25 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle cheese on top, then broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until melted.
  7. Serve with fresh herbs or sauce of your choice.

For deeper flavor, let the filling rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before using. Ensure you choose a fresh head of cabbage.
