Mouthwatering Meatball Sub Sandwiches

Delightful subs filled with homemade meatballs in marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella cheese.

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 soft hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Roll into golf-ball-sized meatballs.
  4. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan.
  7. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce.
  8. Slice the hoagie rolls open.
  9. Fill with meatballs and sauce.
  10. Top with mozzarella cheese and broil for 2–4 minutes.

Notes

For a twist, try using a mixture of ground meats or adding sautéed vegetables.
