Easy Naan Bread

A simple and satisfying recipe for making soft, pillowy naan bread that pairs perfectly with your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup full-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Warm water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the yogurt and mix gently. Slowly add warm water as needed to form a slightly tacky dough.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape into a ball, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rest for at least 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into equal portions, roll into balls, and then flatten into ovals.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional minute until golden. Check for bubbles on the surface.

Notes

For best results, allow the dough to rest for at least 1 hour and ensure the skillet is adequately hot before cooking.
