Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Gel-based food coloring

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup warm milk and 1/4 cup sugar in a large bowl. Sprinkle active dry yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter and salt. Gradually mix in bread flour until a cohesive dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, and color each portion with gel-based food coloring.
  6. Form small balls from each colored portion and layer them in a greased bundt or loaf pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for approximately 35 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use warm milk (about 110°F) to activate the yeast. Knead properly, and let the dough rise until doubled for best results.
