Cheesy Sausage and Rice Skillet

A comforting blend of smoked sausage, creamy sharp cheddar cheese, and rice, creating a satisfying skillet meal.

  • 16 ounces smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups steamed broccoli, chopped
  • 2 boxes (6.5 ounces each) Rice-A-Roni, original flavor
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  2. Add the sliced smoked sausage and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until browned.
  3. Remove the seasoning packets from the Rice-A-Roni boxes. Add the rice mixture to the skillet, stirring to coat.
  4. Add 5 cups of water and the seasoning packets, cover, and simmer on low for 20 minutes.
  5. Steam the broccoli until tender and chop into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Stir in the chopped broccoli and shredded cheddar cheese into the skillet until melted and combined.

Notes

Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Don’t rush the browning of the sausage for depth of flavor.
