Bobby Flay’s Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

A comforting Salisbury steak recipe featuring savory beef patties and rich mushroom gravy, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, finely chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and form into four oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until tender. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir. Gradually add beef broth while stirring until the gravy thickens.
  4. Return the patties to the skillet, nestling them in the gravy. Cover and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Serve warm, ladled with mushroom gravy, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider adding herbs like thyme or rosemary to the mushroom gravy. This dish pairs well with creamy mashed potatoes or rice.
