Best Easy Christmas Gnome Cookies

Adorable and festive gnome-shaped cookies perfect for holiday gatherings, complete with strawberry hats and candy eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package refrigerated sugar cookie dough (Pillsbury pull-apart dough recommended)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (16 ounces)
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 large strawberries (fresh, leaves removed)
  • 24 small candy balls (Fancy Sprinkles or Skittles)
  • (Optional: gluten-free cookie dough)
  • (Optional: coconut cream for a dairy-free option)
  • (Optional: vegan butter and plant-based frosting alternatives)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the package instructions for the refrigerated sugar cookie dough. Roll the dough into small balls and spread them out on a lined baking sheet. Gently press the dough balls into small cups and bake until golden brown. Allow the cookie cups to cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. Prepare the buttercream frosting by beating the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, then pour in the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract. Whip these ingredients together until fluffy and well combined.
  3. Once the cookie cups are cooled, frost each cup generously and top each with an upside-down strawberry to resemble a gnome hat. Finally, place two small candy balls on the frosting to create the adorable eyes. Repeat this process for all cookie cups.

Notes

Use gel food coloring in the frosting for festive colors and add flavorings like almond or peppermint extract for a unique twist.
